Short version: OpenPDF Studio's core app runs locally on your device. Your documents are never uploaded to our servers unless you explicitly use a cloud feature. We don't sell your data. Ever.

The App is available as a desktop application (macOS, Windows, Linux), a web app at snaphw.com, and via GitHub at github.com/VagishKapila/openpdf-studio.
Desktop App (Free / Open Source tier)
When you use the desktop application without a paid account, we collect no data whatsoever. All PDF editing, OCR processing, and document operations run entirely on your local machine. No files leave your device. No analytics are sent. No account is required.

When you create an account or use cloud features, we may collect:
OpenPDF Studio's OCR feature is powered by Tesseract.js and runs 100% locally on your device in all tiers, including the web app. Documents scanned with OCR are processed in your browser or on your machine — they are never transmitted to any server for OCR processing.
We use collected data only for the following purposes:
We do not use your data for advertising. We do not sell your data to third parties. We do not use your documents to train AI models.
Documents uploaded via paid tiers are stored in AWS S3 with server-side encryption. All data in transit is encrypted via HTTPS/TLS. Authentication uses JWT tokens with expiration. Passwords are hashed using industry-standard algorithms before storage.
Our backend API is hosted on Railway. Our database is PostgreSQL managed by Railway. Both are protected by environment-level access controls.
OpenPDF Studio uses the following third-party services, each governed by their own privacy policies:
You may delete your account and all associated data at any time by emailing vagishkapila@gmail.com. Upon request, we will delete your account, documents, and all personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law (e.g., payment records).
Signed documents with attached audit trails may be retained for up to 7 years if required by applicable law in your jurisdiction for the legal enforceability of the e-signature.

OpenPDF Studio is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it promptly.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy. Significant changes will be communicated by email to registered users.
